Over 1,400 visitors to the almshouses and the mill

The heritage open weekend on 9 and 10 September brought 1,436 visitors to the courtyard and chapel of Corbet’s Almshouses and 1,102 to the ground floor of the Town Mill. Most people visited both.

Our thanks go to the Almshouse Trustees and the residents, who put up with a steady stream of visitors through their courtyard for two days, and to the owners of the mill, who opened the wheel pit for the first time.

The volunteers on the mill door were asked the same question about every four minutes: the wheel last turned commercially in 1962.
